In one of the most brilliant pivots I’ve ever seen on the marketing front, the chain recently unveiled a major overhaul. Introducing their first-ever spokesman, Carl Hardee Sr., played by (a bit overly) countrified “Nashville” actor, Charles Easton, lays down the law to his Millennial/poser son, Carl Jr. According to Carl Sr., his son "got distracted", a problem many brands have when the status quo becomes acceptable. Perhaps the shift from California to the New Heartland changed the way they approach the way they communicate with their “young, hungry guys” consumer? I doubt it, but the new tagline, “Pioneers Of The Great American Burger” certainly has a New Heartland sensibility.
