Rescuers worked tirelessly throughout the night under heavy rain to save citizens trapped in one of Italy’s worst floods in over a century. The Emilia-Romagna region, in northern Italy, has been hit hard by flooding which has claimed the lives of nine individuals, with many still missing, killing several older and disabled individuals. Another couple, Sauro Manuzzi and Marinella Maraldi were hit by the floods in the field opposite their homes. Pierluigi Randi, the President of Ampro, the Weather Experts Association, told La Repubblica that this was the worst flooding to affect Italy in a hundred years. The region had earlier experienced flooding in May of this year, killing two individuals.
