A few days ago, I had an emergency open heart surgery. When the ultrasound technician walked into the room without a mask, I was shocked. Until that point with the ultrasound technician, I hadn’t thought about how factors like gender or race would affect the health care I would receive. Negin Nia graduated with a master’s degree in journalism about a year and a half after her open heart surgery. This also does not mean that all men ignore women’s health concerns.
