Uganda’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem said the move by the World Bank was hypocritical. “The law was passed by Uganda Parliament; these are representatives of the people. “Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act fundamentally contradicts the World Bank Group’s values. Former World Bank president Jim Yong Kim warned that such legislation restricting sexual rights can hurt a country’s competitiveness by discouraging multinational companies from investing or locating their activities in those nations.
