A wisdom has built up in Toronto over the years of the Leafs’ repetitious failures. My evidence for this is the general absence of public grieving and flagellation after we lost another seventh game to Boston in Boston. I don’t think this meant people were over it; this was the way they got over it. If you don’t feel a parallel grimness, it’s because the populace is busy coping. The fact the Leafs haven’t won since ’67 or poverty and inflation haven’t been beaten, doesn’t mean they can’t.
