So it ends as it began. It was a resignation by Andrea Leadsom that put Theresa May into No 10, and it is another that finally, after so many near misses, will take her out. Instead she became one of May’s greatest supporters, defending her and her dismal Brexit efforts until the bitter end. Yesterday Leadsom realised that she could do it no longer. So she picked up her phone, scrolled to the PM’s number, and pressed “call”.
