There are more than 200 golf courses in and around the Arizona desert city, about a half-hour drive east of Phoenix. But Scottsdale is also a design-forward destination with award-winning restaurants, ample art and great local shopping. That’s particularly true of the downtown core, known as Old Town, where a classic Southwestern esthetic reminds visitors they’re in the desert, and yes, it likely will be sunny and warm even in December. Designed to blend in with its desert surroundings, Taliesin West was the winter home and studio of the late Frank Lloyd Wright.
