GEORGE TOWN: While the fate of three Convent schools here is hanging in the balance, two other missionary schools in Jalan Masjid Negeri will continue as usual, according to its landowners. The Sisters of Infant Jesus (SIJ) Malaysia, which owns the land on which the SMK Convent Green Lane and SK Convent Green Lane are located, said there was no truth that both schools will close down. Convent Green Lane will be operating as usual and there will be no relocation,” an SIJ official said. Talk about the possible closure of SK Convent Light Street, SMK Con­vent Light Street and SMK Convent Pulau Tikus surfaced after a letter from the Northeast District Educa­tion District went viral. The letter, which stated that the schools would not take in new students from 2018, has since been withdrawn.
