Isro’s heaviest rocket GSLV-Mark 3 takes off from Sriharikota on Monday. India's government has not approved a manned space programme yet but Isro has been developing the required launch capacity and other associated technologies. But Isro officials assert that India has not decided yet whether to launch a full-fledged manned space programme. Space engineers say that India has yet to achieve the most critical element of manned space missions: developing life-support systems for a manned space capsule. But over the past decade, Isro has also sent a "pure science" orbiter mission to the Moon and to Mars.
