Israeli forces clashed with Palestinians in the West Bank on Saturday as violence rises in the area and near east Jerusalem. The fighting began late on Saturday near Homesh, The Associated Press reported, citing the Israeli military and Palestinian medics. Homesh, an outpost considered illegal by the Israeli government, is located in the northern West Bank and was dismantled in 2005. However, the AP reported that Israeli settlers have recently returned and established an unauthorized outpost. Al Jazeera reporter Harry Fawcett described an attack in another West Bank village on Thursday as being "extremely serious."
