A Scottish island experienced six earthquakes in a period of just 10 minutes with residents reporting feeling their houses shake and hearing a 'large explosion'. The Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides was rocked by the tremors at around 7.30pm on Monday, January 29. Others told BGS they "thought someone had crashed into the house" and "it was like a large explosion nearby". "I thought it was a plane at first as we live near the airport," he said. All the quakes other than one near Mull were at a depth of 7km.
