Dear Liz,I value your advice and I could use some guidance. I got laid off in November and I quickly updated my LinkedIn profile to show that I'm available for new employment. My LinkedIn headline says "Comp and Benefits Professional Seeking New Challenge." I've had several contacts from external and internal recruiters so I'm happy about that, but at a recent job-search networking event I attended, the speaker told us not to announce on our LinkedIn profiles that we're unemployed. If I say flat out in my LinkedIn profile that I'm not working, I might get passed over by recruiters from these employers.
