An Irish woman has been selected for the prestigious 2019 Obama Fellowship programme established by the former US president to find leading community leaders from among thousands of applicants. Despite having lived in the US for the last 25 years working in the film and television industry, Ms Byrne hopes she may one day export her company home to Irish schools. “You can imagine as a 10- or 11-year-old how empowering that is - [THE IDEA THAT]there is a problem and we are going to solve it,” Ms Byrne told The Irish Times. Not confidentA part of Barack Obama’s post-presidential work, the Fellowship aims to find leaders working to alleviate some of the world’s most pressing problems. “Obviously we have learned a lot, we have made a lot of mistakes, but we have also got a lot right.”
