Tributes were paid this morning to a young Irishman who died in hospital in Australia following a stabbing incident while walking home with his wife just before Christmas. Father-of-two Charlie McCarthy was waiting for a taxi with his wife in Perth in Western Australia when a row broke out involving two fishermen working nearby. It’s understood that Mr McCarthy, who worked for a cable-laying company in Perth, received a stab wound to the head and was rushed to hospital in Perth, where he was put on life-support.
