Bray Wanderers have appointed former Shelbourne and Dundalk defender Dave Mackey as the club’s new manager. The 57 year-old, who previously had a stint at the club as assistant manager, is set to start assembling a squad for the coming season immediately. Despite the well publicised problems at the club, Bray Wanderers still finished the season in sixth place, well clear of Limerick in seventh, having looked through the early part of the campaign as though the team might well qualify for Europe. He has also worked with first division club Cabinteely. Some may yet, for all their apparent reservations, re-sign for the club now that there is a new manager in place and alternatives elsewhere have dried up somewhat.
