Irish tillage farmers have warned their struggling sector is a sign of what is to come for the Irish beef industry. "We, as Irish tillage farmers, have been dealing with and competing with Mercosur countries for decades now," he said. "...We simply cannot be opposing Mercosur beef while feeding our livestock with Mercosur feedstuffs. The unlevel playing field is real for Irish tillage farmers. We call on farmers to reject these grains and insist that their suppliers prioritise Irish grain, or EU grain in its absence.
