Investors lost Sh264.3bn due to corporate fraud - report


The investors further lost Sh2 billion in National Bank and Sh1.2 billion in CMC. These firms are Chase Bank, Imperial Bank, CMC, Uchumi, Mumias, Kenya Airways, National Bank and TransCentury. Indebted Mumias Sugar Company, contributed 10.21 per cent or 27 billion of the total loss while the investors lost Sh5.1 billion in the troubled Uchumi. The report cited Kenya Commercial Bank as the best governed company in the country followed by Safaricom and Standard Chartered. TransCentury, which is currently owing bondholders about Sh4 billion, has seen investors lose Sh8.7 billion.
