Invercargill man sentenced for random shooting near Queens Park


A man, who randomly shot another man who was out on his morning walk in Invercargill in 2018, has been sentenced to four and a half years' prison. The victim was out on his regular Sunday morning near Queens Park, the summary says. "At this time both the defendants were huddled together and a loaded sawn off shot gun double barrelled shotgun has been discharged," the summary says. The other man returned to the victim, dropped part of the gun by the victim and remained in the area. Watkins was by arrested by the Armed Offenders Squad about five weeks later in Invercargill.
