In the absence of speed-breakers on Vijaya Nagar Fifth Main Road, First Cross Street and First Main Road, pedestrians are at high risk for accidents. Pedestrians walk on the carriageway. They have also sought deployment of traffic police personnel at the intersection of Vijay Nagar First Main Road and Velachery Bypass Road during rush hour. There is a continuous flow of vehicles from Velachery Main Road, Vijaya Nagar Fifth Main Road, First Cross Street and First Main Road and they converge at the intersection. “Making matters worse, many motorists drive in the wrong direction to enter Velachery Main Road towards Medavakkam,” says S. Vinod, a resident.
