PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is set to transition into the inter-monsoon period beginning May 29, effectively marking the end of the northeast monsoon phase which began in November last year, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia). MetMalaysia director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said the inter-monsoon period will bring light winds from varying directions which can result in the formation of thunderstorm clouds. “This weather phenomenon can potentially result in flash floods, fallen trees and damage to unstable infrastructure. “The public is advised to be cautious and always alert towards weather forecasts and warnings issued by MetMalaysia,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 25). He said the public can access information relayed by the department through its official website, the myCuaca mobile application and the department’s official social media accounts.
