Insurance can pay inheritance tax bills . . . at a price

I know it can be a very complicated area but I remember hearing about an insurance policy that you can get and you will not have to pay inheritance tax. Essentially, a section 72 policy is designed to meet some or all of an expected inheritance tax bill. However, while inheritance tax bills are paid by beneficiaries under Irish law, a section 72 policy is taken out by the person who currently owns them. When a person dies, their spouse can inherit everything from them with no inheritance tax issue. If it is too low, some inheritance tax will remain to be paid.
