Hobbiton is situated on Buckland Rd, and neighbours are becoming concerned at the volume of tourists attempting to navigate the rural road. Buckland Rd, the rural road on which Hobbiton sits, suffers from blind spots, a dangerous speed, and lost drivers pulling into grass verges or making u-turns. Richard Smith, on behalf of the Gregan Family Trust, told commissioners that Buckland Rd residents who were once supportive of Hobbiton​ now had a feeling of apathy. His wife was involved in a two-car crash on Buckland Rd on March 21. It is not the only crash that has occurred on the roads leading to Hobbiton.
