The Ministry of Information, Communications and technology has denied that the ICT Practitioners Bill, 2015 emanated from their office. In a statement on Thursday, ICT cabinet secretary Joe Mucheru said that the proposed law was drafted by a private individual. If the ICT practitioners bill becomes law, practitioners will be required to be a holder of at least a bachelor’s degree in an ICT related field from a recognized university. For those who lack degrees in IT, the proposed law demands that they be holders of a diploma from a recognized university. The CS said the ministry is in the process of drafting its own policies which are not in agreement with those drafted in the practitioners bill.
