It was decided at the meeting that scheduled domestic airlines will have to ensure certain actions to avoid causing inconvenience to the travelers. The DGCA has further mandated airlines to provide all necessary assistance to the passengers for their connecting flights. The rise in the number of air passengers, during the last few years, have also led to the number of overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines to shoot up. During August 2019, a total of 760 passenger related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines, up from 688 in August 2018, according to DGCA data. Interestingly, even with the rise in the number of air passengers, the overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines fell during August 2019, as compared to the year-ago period.
