Last year, authorities in Hope, Indiana released pictures of Erika Hurt, a woman found overdosed behind the wheel in the Dollar General parking lot. Instead, she used the “absolute worst moment” of her life as a “wake-up call” to get her act together. On the one-year anniversary of the day those photos were taken, Hurt announced on Facebook she is one year sober. The post reads in part: “I’ve decided to repost the picture simply because it displays exactly what heroin addiction is. Also because I do not want to ever forget where the road of addiction has taken me.
