India promises to set up cancer hospital in Kenya ahead of PM Modi’s visit

The Indian government has committed to set up a cancer hospital in Kenya. “The government of India has offered an Indian-manufactured telecobalt machine for cancer treatment, whose effectiveness has been proven in over 15 cancer hospitals in India,” State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said. President Uhuru Kenyatta said for trade with India to deepen, Africa must move aggressively to develop its manufacturing base. An MoU on health cooperation, which covers this project and other areas of co–operation, is being negotiated by both sides ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on July 10. India is also offering training and capacity building for both doctors and paramedics and has requested the Kenyan side to indicate areas of interest.
