What’s most heartening is the Finance Minister’s renewed focus on rural India. After successive years of poor monsoon, rural demand had been struggling and a dose of stimulus was prescribed to bring it back on its feet. I am quite happy with the government continuing the rural focus and enhancing allocation to MNREGA to Rs 48,000 crore. Jaitley’s decision to provide higher allocation for MNREGA, increased investments on infrastructure will help drive consumerism, particularly at the bottom of the pyramid. At Dabur, we are confident that these steps would result in demand revival in rural India.
