India have an eye on future

Calcutta/Dambulla: After dominating Sri Lanka completely in the Test series, India will hope to do the same in the one-dayers, which begin in Dambulla on Sunday. Going by the strength of the two sides, India are of course way more powerful than what the current Sri Lanka team boasts of. So it wouldn't be wrong to say that India are overwhelming favourites to clinch the five-match ODI series. The hosts need two more ODI wins to confirm their spot in the 2019 ODI World Cup by way of automatic qualification. Having been a past World Cup winner, in 1996, and also one of the most consistent sides in world cricket in the last decade - barring the last couple of years - they would like to retain their pride and claim an automatic World Cup spot.
