Share:ISLAMABAD - India by backtracking from its own commitment of sending 50,000 tons of wheat to Afghanistan via Pakistan, has now decided to send this consignment via Iran, it is learnt through diplomatic sources. The sources told The Nation that India has already sent the first consignment of medicine to Afghanistan via Iran without informing Pakistan. India has earlier announced to send wheat assistance to Afghanistan as humanitarian assistance and asked Pakistan for facilitation. After Iranian foreign minister’s visit to New Delhi last week, India informed Iranian top diplomat about the Indian decision to send 50,000 tons wheat to Kabul. Diplomatic sources said both India and Iran through diplomatic channels are busy in finalizing the mode of transportation of this wheat to Afghanistan.
