Indian Prime Minister Modi is expected to jet in the country today [Sunday] afternoon, Statehouse spokesman Manoah Esipisu has said. Esipisu said the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, defended Kenyan nationalists in their time of need, going so far as to assist the Kapenguria Six. Since then, Kenya and India have remained steadfast friends, he said. India and Kenya's relations are warm, and they go back centuries. Esipisu said formal reception ceremonies will be held Monday morning, including a guard of honour and a 19–gun salute.
