KQ suspends flights to Juba as gun fighting persists Sunday


On its twitter handle KQ said: "We wish to advise our guests that we have suspended flights to Juba, South Sudan due to uncertain security situation". At least 272 people have died in fighting between South Sudan's rival factions in the capital Juba, including 33 civilians. The fighting broke out on Thursday and Friday between troops loyal to President Salva Kiir and soldiers who support vice president Riek Machar. Gunfire erupted on Friday evening near the state house where President Salva Kiir and vice president Riek Machar, former rivals, were meeting for talks. Kenya Airways has temporarily suspended its flights to Juba following the current gun fights that have taken toll on the South Sudan capital.
