SportUnconfirmed sources close to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) reveal that Sri Lanka ODI skipper Upul Tharanga has been banned for two matches by the ICC for maintaining a slow over rate during the second game against India at Pallekele on Thursday (24). It is also understood that Sri Lanka opener Danushka Gunathilaka will be ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series after injuring his shoulder while fielding. Sri Lanka will most probably open with Thirimanne as Chandimal is slotted to take Tharanga's place in the batting order. According to Match Referee Andy Pycroft, Sri Lanka were found three overs short soon after India bounced back to record a sensational win. India currently lead the 5-match ODI series 2-0 against Sri Lanka.
