A Vancouver recycling depot that accepts bottles and cans is expanding the type of used materials it receives to include used clothing as well. Return-It Depot will accept gently used clothing and household textiles like sheets and drapes inside 13 recycling centres across the Lower Mainland as part of a three-month pilot project. "People are already coming to drop off other recyclables," said Allen Langdon, president of Return-It parent organization Encorp Pacific. Clothing and other textiles makes up five per cent of Metro Vancouver's solid waste sent to landfills, according to Return-It. Langdon mentioned pop icon Marie Kondo as a role model for others to donate their clothes instead.
