Activision-Blizzard is starting off the new year on the back foot, with two high profile departures of executives. There’s concern about 2019, and I have to say, from the current state of Activision-Blizzard, I feel it’s warranted. Destiny’s biggest problem is not the current state of the game, but convincing people to experience the current state of the game after so many missteps with D1 and D2’s launch. I have always loved Activision-Blizzard games, and I still love many of them (see my nearly 1,000 hours sunk in Destiny 2), but it’s pretty easy to see that things are in rough shape. More than ever lately, Activision-Blizzard is feeling like a follower more than the industry leader it’s been in the past.
