The owner of closed Imperial bank, Aly Popat, is among the top Kenyans listed in the latest explosive Panama Papers expose'. The expose' by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has at least 191 Kenyans listed as using tax havens to hide their wealth. The papers belonged to Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca and were leaked by a source simply known as "John Doe". Others mentioned in the list include Alka K Somaia, Al Noor Jamal, R C Kamani, H K Rawal, Peter Bonde Nielsen, Margaret Mutheu, Bindi Shah and Mwaura Peter Njenga among others. The database, of about 200,000 offshore accounts, went online on Monday and was made accessible by 6 pm.
