Chidiebube Okeoma, OwerriThe late distribution of sensitive materials for Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission sent panic across the state on Friday. He insisted that despite the initial 24-hour delay, materials would arrive at polling units by 8am on Saturday. Spokesperson for INEC in Imo State, Emmanuela Opara, in a telephone interview, affirmed the readiness of the commission for the election in the state. The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Emmanuel Alex-Hart, said the last of batch of sensitive materials arrived at about 2am from Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Alex-Hart noted that the electoral materials were moved to the councils under the supervision of INEC officials, agents of the participating political parties and security personnel.
