Ibuprofen could boost coronavirus survival rates by up 80% claims new trial

Experts are looking at whether a special formulation of Ibuprofen could help reduce the serious side effect seen among patients infected. The NHS stopped advising coronavirus patients to take ibuprofen amid concerns the anti-inflammatory painkiller could only make things worse. Those with coronavirus symptoms are now once again told to ‘take paracetamol or ibuprofen if you feel uncomfortable'. But when they are given this special formulation of ibuprofen the survival rates increase to 80%. Half of the patients enrolled in the trial will receive standard care and the other half will receive standard care plus the special ibuprofen formulation.
