ITV keeps investors entertained despite advertising fall


Revenues at ITV Studios rose by 7 per cent to £697 million, boosted by entertainment shows such as Love Island PAITV, Britain’s biggest commercial broadcaster, has reported a sharp drop in advertising revenue in the first half as a result of ongoing political and economic uncertainty. Net advertising revenue fell by 8 per cent to £769 million and the company said that continuing worries among advertisers about the outlook for the economy could lead to a 4 per cent slide in the third quarter. This was offset by a 7 per cent rise in revenue at ITV Studios to £697 million, boosted by the weak pound and new dramas such as Unforgotten and Little Boy Blue and entertainment programmes such as Love Island and The Voice.
