Much is being said and written about government initiatives to alleviate the mass suffering caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. Local telcos PLDT and Globe have donated communications support to arm stakeholders with strong connectivity in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Chip maker Intel Corp. has pledged an additional $50 million in a pandemic technology response initiative to accelerate scientific research, access to patient care technology and online training for students. Meanwhile, Microsoft has dedicated a $20-million grant in support of Covid-19 research efforts on artificial intelligence, data science, diagnostics and related hospital resources. The fund would be deployed within 2020 in the form of financial contributions, cash flow support and investments.
