MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-seven more inmates at the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) were found to have the coronavirus disease, or COVID-19, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) announced Saturday. BuCor spokesperson Col. Gabriel Chaclag said the 27 patients were transferred to Site Harry at the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP). Medical staff will continue to monitor the health of the latest COVID-19 patients in the facility. On Friday, two inmates were already transferred to Site Harry after testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease.
