NEWLY elected International Olympic Committee (IOC) executive board member Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski said the IOC is batting for amendments in the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) constitution. The daughter of former POC president Jose Cojuangco Jr. reminded the POC that as mandated in its charter, its members really need to hold an election within the year despite the postponement of the 2020 Olympics. But [the] Olympics was postponed,” added Cojuangco-Jaworski, emphasizing that the IOC expects the POC to adhere to the charter. With the same winning tone of voice, the 2002 Asian Games equestrian gold winner said she would give the IOC updates on developments with the POC constitution. The main POC charter change initiatives ground to halt after failing to reach the required two-thirds vote among the 13 members in last Friday’s special executive board meeting held online.
