MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains may be felt in parts of Bicol Region and Mimaropa due to a low pressure area (LPA) near Catanduanes, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. According to a PAGASA rainfall advisory released on Tuesday night, the rains may last from two to three hours, prompting them to advise residents in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and Marinduque to monitor weather updates. ADVERTISEMENT“The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to monitor the weather condition,” the latest bulletin said. Previously, Pagasa also said that moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds may be experienced over Metro Manila and Quezon province. The low pressure area could trigger the return of the southwest monsoon, or habagat, which was why PAGASA started monitoring the development overnight, according to weather specialist Robb Gile during a PAGASA briefing.
