IMG already handles sponsorship arrangements for governing bodyDeal begins with 2023 AFCON next monthMedia agency IMG has been awarded the ‘rest of the world’ broadcast rights to the African Football Confederation’s (CAF) major club and international soccer competitions until 2025. The deal covers 85 territories outside Sub-Saharan Africa and Middle East and North Africa (MENA), starting with the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations next month. The contract also includes the rights to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, as well as tournament qualifiers, the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, as well as futsal and beach soccer competitions. Last week, CAF agreed a two-year deal with pan-African broadcaster New World TV for the free-to-air (FTA) and pay-TV English and local language media rights for Sub-Saharan Africa. “The media rights agreement with New World TV is the biggest investment by a pan-African broadcaster in CAF’s history,” said CAF president Patrice Motsepe.
