IJM plans major India exit, shifts capital to high-growth UK projects

IJM Corp Bhd is set to divest its highway and real estate investments in India as part of a bold strategy to unlock shareholder value, streamline its portfolio, and redeploy capital into higher-growth markets. The group's toll road assets, managed under IJM Infrastructure Ltd, include several long-term highway concessions across India. "Monetising infrastructure assets is increasingly common among regional conglomerates seeking to recycle capital and sharpen strategic focus. For IJM, divesting its Indian highway portfolio could unlock significant funds while reducing exposure to regulatory and currency risks linked to overseas concessions," said an analyst. Lee said the proposed India exit forms part of the group's strategy to streamline its portfolio and allow the market to better recognise the value of its assets.
