more-inSubra Suresh, Padma Shri awardee and alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, has been selected to head the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. Prof. Suresh had served a four-year term as the president of Carnegie Mellon University and demitted office on June 30. According to a release from the institute, Prof. Suresh completed his B Tech from IIT-M, which felicitated him with the distinguished alumnus award in 1997. An eight-member search committee chaired by Mr. Koh Boon Hwee, chairman of the NTU Board of Trustees, unanimously selected Prof. Suresh for the top role at NTU. NTU was placed 11th in the world in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings this year.
