IHC adjourns FIA appeal hearing against Shoaib Shaikh’s bail


ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned an appeal hearing by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against Shoaib Shaikh and others regarding the IT scam that brought disgrace to the IT industry as a whole. The appeal was filed by the FIA against Shoaib Shaikh, CEO and chairman of Axact, who was granted bail after he had admitted having taken a bribe before an inquiry panel. FIA filed an appeal before the IHC when former Additional District and Sessions Judge Pervaiz-ul-Qadir Memon granted bail to Shoaib Shaikh. The judge, Memon, admitted before a two-member panel to have taken a bribe for releasing Shoaib Shaikh on bail, however, he later Memon retracted his confession. Judge Justice Athar Minallah is now hearing the appeal against the bail granted to Shoaib Shaikh.
