TAWAU: The police have refuted claims that detainees linked to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) have been threatened or tortured while under incarceration. “This (LTTE case) is just a case involving ideology, and not yet up to the level that requires military action. “I have always emphasised to my staff that detainees should be given their rights and that they cannot be tortured. "But if they assume getting into lockup is being tortured, then it is too bad. Twelve people, including two assemblymen, were nabbed over alleged links to the LTTE last month.
