Tunisia’s top tier football league, League 1, has emerged as the strongest African football league on International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) 2019 global rating. Tunisia was able to dominate the continent after legend Esperance Tunis and Etoile Sportive du Sahel clinched respectively the Confederation of African Football Champions League title and the Arab Clubs Championship. Egypt’s Premier League is third best league on the African continent with 520.5 points. The global ranking is topped by the English Premier League. The performance of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City contributed highly to the victory of the English Premier League in the annual Ranking of the Leagues, IFFHS notes.
