Adelani Adepegba, AbujaA former foreign affairs minister, Mathew Mbu, has narrated in his autobiography how the Nigerian government refurbished an old ship with £18m. The ex-minister, who died on February 6, 2012, had left the manuscript of his autobiography which the family published in his honour. The son of the late diplomat, Mathew Mbu Jr., told journalists on Thursday that the book would be launched posthumously on April 10, 2018 at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja. “MT Mbu did not only come back with a flagship befitting the NN for £2.8m and saved £3.7m, but had a deal to pay back the £2.8m in 10 years interest-free. “Politically, it was myopic at conception; why should the resources of a state be frozen for decades?
