Bengaluru/Chennai: Microchip Technology , a Nasdaq listed company that makes integrated circuits announced that it has set up a new research and development center in Chennai , India. Spread over approximately one lakh square feet, the new center will accommodate 1200 employees.Microchip has had a presence in Chennai since 2012. The new center will focus on IC design, physical design, Computer-aided Design (CAD), application and software development. Microchip’s customer base in India stands at 1,500 today. Its increasing investments in the region will make it a key player in the Indian semiconductor market, it said.Ganesh Moorthy, President and Chief Operating Officer said, “The new Chennai development center underscores Microchip’s commitment to designing and developing differentiated embedded control solutions for our customers.
